For this assignment I visited Westminster Woods, a long term care community in Julington Creek Fl. This particular community located on a quaint river location offered residents a variety of living arrangements ranging from a three bedroom apartment to a single studio room much like that you normally see at a retirement home. I was quite impressed with the larger units which seemed to offer freedom to the residents as if they were living on their own. With this particular set up residents come and go for the most extent as they please. They do have to let the office know that they are leaving and often have to use the provided transportation in most cases but for the most part there is no restriction on where they can go.
I also inquired about the activities and events that
The facility also offered typical amenities and nessicites that would be associated with a typical long term care facility. This includes a cafeteria for residents not able to cook or those that just don’t want to, an on site health resource center offering treatment as well as on site pharmacy and nursing care for those in need of it. Such amenities as 24 hour security, and housekeeping were also features provided by the center.
I personally thought that this particular long term care facility was very nice. I had visited it once before some time back for a high school function and it was a pretty rough place then. It was a little run down and it smelled for a lack of a better way to put it like “old people”. It is a much better place now! Many remodeling events have happened since then as well as being run by a new manager.
